Our creators just LOVE leather, have you noticed? But sadly with the summer weather on it's way (not that we're complaining) sporting h-t leather is something that can end in a sticky situation - literally. Our answer to this fashion mystery? Go short. Short shorts. Problem solved.
Okay, so we know these ladies aren't technically wearing pastels, but what they are rocking are some seriously wonderful looks for this time of year. Tip: personify the sugared almond look, but inside of round edges, think neatly cut lines and a sharp silhouette (colour is a big deal to us.. one step at a time). Take particular note of the olive green colour contrasted with the pink backdrop, play around with it, have fun and Happy Easter!
photo credit | personal IT terrifies me to think that we're already over a third of the way through 2014. I mean, really? The only plus side about time passing so quickly is having the Love Me Beauty box come through my door every month. Oh I know how to live. April's box - just like all of the other boxes I've been sent - doesn't disappoint. I've been working on a little self/life makeover lately (when do I not say that?) so the fact that this box is full to the brim with hair care and oils makes me a very happy girl. I decided to choose Menu 3 which included a full-sized cleansing shampoo by Neal & Wolf (also known as the nicest smelling stuff ever), a full-sized moisturising oil and a nail polish in peachy orange shade. Say goodbye to the nude nails my friends, things are about to get wild. Statement enough to turn heads, modest enough to keep the class. How perfect is this look spotted outside the Issey Miyake Paris Fashion Week show? The subtelty in colour seems so enchanting, we were sat in the office staring at it for quite some time just taking it all in. 'Statement' is a word I hate when referring to fashions, as I feel it doesn't give the individual the credit they deserve for even wearing such a style - it's all about that piece of clothing. After all, fashion is the clothing, style is what you do with it. But in this instance, it just works. We salute you! For the Queen of Kaeidoscopics, look to Mary Katrantzou for inspiration.
SOMETIMES pretty can be boring and all we really want to look at is some stylish girls in leather and eyeliner. Check out five of our favourite edgy style blogs right now - who said fashion has to be girly?
No, no, no. No animal prints for this missy. I may be wild from the inside, but showing some wildness on the outside always seemed too much for me. But messing with the good girl image can prove valuable lessons. So I learned when I got the chance to borrow clothes for this shoot from our fashion cabinet. I challenged myself to get out of my sweater comfort zone and this is the result. I think I look pretty wow, with a little r in the middle, don’t you think? Am curious if you dare to W(r)OW yourself this season. Remember those grey days I mentioned? Yep this was one of them! When meeting up with a friend, i'm always conflicted between wanting to dress pretty and needing to remain comfy, as I know i'm going to be sat down for while, as once we get chatting, that's it, the world doesn't exist for the next three hours. So, this time I settled with simple and relatively comfy wardrobe staples, which seemed to reflect well on the grey day that it was. But thankfully I had my yellow snake print clutch/bag from Warehouse to brighten up my day. There is nothing wrong with adding a touch of colour. Be honest, how cool would it be to drink champagne with your favourite Brit bloggers and dance into the London night in an incredible new pair of shoes? This is your chance.
Now that spring has well and truly sprung, we've been discussing florals together at CofD lately, and how we're not so sure about it. There are two ways it can go: either the beautifully sculpted and feminine Dior way, or the Grandma's curtains kind of way. Then it hit us: how could we wear florals, without wearing florals?! The answer, beautiful people, is simple - layer vibrant colours with a subtle graphical print and the human eye does the rest for you. We don't know who this girl is but my god, she's got it right.
People are busy & I think Dutch people are seriously some work aholics. I definitely think that's a good thing, but.. Sometimes I catch myself that I don't enjoy my 'day offs'. So since I'm busier with my jobs as online trading manager and freelancer I got kind of a planning for my day offs. It sounds kind of weird maybe, but I just need it to relax on those days.. Curious how my day off looks like? 1. AN EARLY WAKE-UP CALL I love to sleep, but since my new working days start at 9am I also wake up quite early. It feels good to have more time for the daily routine. 2. ENJOY BREAKFAST / When I have some good food for breakfast it feels like a super fresh start of the day! I love to eat some croissants, some warm 'just-out-of-the-oven' baguettes, some fresh juice and a delicious cup of coffee. Nothing better than that! I really need to pay more attention on it.. What about you? 3. THE DAILY MAKE-UP ROUTINE, BUT THEN A LITTLE BETTER During my day offs I think I look better than during my days at work haha. I love to spend some more time in the bathroom when I got the time for it. I like to look for some make-up inspiration on pinterest and try some new looks. Maybe it's an idea to make some 'how I do my make-up' videos? 4. SOME 'FRUSTRATING' GROCERY SHOPPING I mostly listen to some deephouse music while going to the supermarket. It makes grocery shopping a lot more fun, believe me! In the supermarket I seriously have no patience, I just don't like all the slowly walking people over there.. Hello?! I got some long legs, I need to run through the store haha. Luckily there are 'self scanners' over here (don't know how to call them in English?), so within 20 minutes I'm back home ;) 5. NOW IT'S TIME FOR BLOGGING Taking photo's of what I want to blog about, upload them on the laptop, edit them and write a blogpost about it. Nothing special, just how probably all of you bloggers do it. Well, I do it with some loud music through my speakers, that's it ;) After the new blogpost it's time to answer some mails, what takes a while.. But it feels quite good when it's all done. 6. WORKOUT - BELLY, BUTT & LEGTIME! On my day offs I mostly go to the gym. I like bodypump, but I also do some normal workouts myself. The legs, the butt and the belly are the most important for me. I want to get them a little tighter and I'm planning to tell you some more about my process and how I work out. Hopefully you're gonna like it! 7. TIME FOR DINER, MADE BY LE BOYFRIEND My boyfriend is definitely the best cook ever! As you might now his mom is Indonesian (so he's an half one), what means: the best Indonesian food a couple of days a week. And actually he also cooks a lot of healthy food lately, which is just as tasty. 8. WATCHING SERIES & GETTING MY NAILS DONE My boyfriend injected me with the series-virus, I love to watch them! Most of the time we watch crime series while enjoying some chocolate or healthy nuts. Our favorite series of the moment are definitely Hannibal and True Detective. You should watch them! Some other ones I really like: Homeland, Pretty Little Liars (but hey, talk to you in 5 years, when we finally found out who 'A' is. It's getting quite annoying, right?) and Dexter. Btw, during watching series it's the best time to polish & paint your nails! I hate it, but I love nail polish, so I guess I just have to deal with it? Actually I'm looking for a good working UV-lamp to get myself some gel nails, so if you have some tips, please share them with me :) 9. ZZZ.. BEDTIME / Time to sleep. Set the alarm for a new working day and that's it!
photo credit | personal LAST FRIDAY I travelled to and from Amsterdam in less then 24 hours - I think that's a record? Either way I'm damn proud of myself for still being able to mentally function without sleep for nearly two days. As you may have already seen on the other CofD blogs, there are some changes coming to the site. Good changes! Over the past few days I've been working like a crazy woman behind my desk in preparation for the new plans I have for le blog (note the slight aesthetic changes ey ey) so if things get a little quiet on my end you'll know why. That being said, I'd love to know a little bit about what you'd like to see from me. Leave any ideas (or questions) in the comments below! PS. My Wardrobe is running an insane offer which gives you a free flight ticket to one of ten destinations (including good old Amsterdam) whenever you spend £100 or more online. Um..hell yes? Terms and conditions are here. Looks like I'll be back sooner rather than later then.. Follow me on: Bloglovin | Facebook | Tumblr | Twitter | Instagram | Pinterest | Lookbook | Stylight | Shop
Not your usual quotes from Chanel and Karl, we've found some very true quotes from timeless fashion icons. Ultra PIN-able! ;-)
We have two kind of weather days going on right now, example one: Cold, grey with the odd drizzle and example two: Sunny, dry, warm and positively Spring like. Obviously this outfit was worn on the latter and what better way to get in the mood for spring, (apart from florals) then to wear white on white. I think with any monochromatic look, the finer details are what can make or break the outfit and in this case I added some of my favourite silver jewellery along with a neutral neck scarf and snake print clutch to subtly break up all the white. Also you can't beat introducing some texture in to a monochromatic outfit, yes i'm talking about my fringed cardigan, which is years old now but still perfectly doing the trick. Following on from yesterday's hype around the CofD meeting, we've decided to collect a few of our favourite snaps of our new favourite city. There's no place quite like home Amsterdam, agreed?
